WHY YOU’RE IN A RUT

by Steve Prager on June 11, 2011

The bad thing about getting a little older is we get used to being comfortable. We’ve got our routine down, our favorite chair, all of our TV shows are pre-set…hey, my team is on the tele, can you bring me a beer?

YOU’RE IN A RUT

Trouble is, like the proverbial frog in the pan of boiling water, sometimes we don’t realize our goose is getting cooked until it’s too late.

I’ve got news for you - chances are - you’re in a rut.

It’s not your fault…….. Really.

It’s the 2nd law of thermodynamics.

IT’s NOT YOUR FAULT

It’s Entropy’s fault (mostly). There, don’t you feel better?

Entropy (en-trun-pee) n. The tendency of any physical object or system to go from a better to worse state over time.

Did you get that? This is important:

Everything around us is slowly turning to crap!

It's a scientific law of life.

TURN TO CRAP

Consider your house. 20 years ago it was brand new – now everything is starting to fall apart.

We’re the same way.  As we age, we begin to suffer loss (flexibility, strength, hearing, vision – you know the drill) and the natural response is to make ourselves more comfortable.

Avoid change. Settle down. Go to sleep.

And when we get too comfortable (it is nice after all)…we get into a rut.

A RUT that is getting WORSE every year (remember, it’s entropy, right? Good is slowly turning to s____ )

You see, entropy is like gravity. Whether you believe in it or not,..it’s still having an affect on you!

Entropy is working to make change harder for you – and comfort and rut-like behavior more appealing.

Are the alarm bells sounding yet?

It’s not too late to fight back!

There is hope. ENTROPY CAN BE CHALLENGED AND OVERCOME!

Tune in tomorrow. And get ready to add what’s worked for you.
